ジャン・グレミヨン（ Jean Grémillon、1902年～1959年 ）はバイユに生まれ、当初は音楽の道を志し、パリのスコラ・カントルムでヴァンサン・ダンディの講義を受けている。その後は映画の世界に入り、ドキュメンタリー作品を手がけたあと、1928年に長編劇映画を発表している。第二次世界大戦後はヌーヴェル・ヴァーグのゆりかごとして知られる「オブジェクティフ49」に賛同し、ヌーヴェル・ヴァーグの映画作家たちに支持された。
