フランソワ=ルネ・ド・シャトーブリアン (François-René de Chateaubriand、1768年～1848年)は1830年の7月革命以後は政界を退いて文学生活に入る。回想録『墓の彼方からの回想（Mémoires d'outre-tombe）』が書かれたのはこの頃だが、シャンティイに滞在し、アンギャン公の刑死に触発されたと云われている。
